A TRAVELLERS TAKE ON CHRISTMAS

THIS TRAVELLERS TAKE ON CHRISTMAS
WITH THE SILLY SEASON UPON US  I HUNTED AROUND FOR A SUITABLY AMUSING XMAS CARD...

BUT COULD FIND NONE

SO WITH CUENCA ON MY MIND I DECIDED TO MAKE MY OWN ...

MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS TO GO ALL OUT WITH HO HO HO, SLEIGH BELLS AND A BOTTLE OF RUM

BUT THE CLOSEST IMAGE I COULD FIND WAS THIS DEAR OLD SOUL HELPING OUT WITH SANTA’S SACK..
...

THEN A BRAIN WAVE.. I’D GO TRADITIONAL WITH CUENCAS AMAZING CATHEDRAL AND MAYBE THE THREE WISE MEN...

BUT THE CLOSEST I COULD GET WERE THESE THREE WISE WOMEN ON THE SHOULDERS OF  THREE HOPEFULLY STRONG MEN.....
...

THEN WITH THOUGHTS OF THE NATIVITY I REALISED I COULDN’T DO WITHOUT JOSEPH, MARY AND THE BABY...

SO THE RELUCTANT TRAVELLER AND I BEGAN AUDITIONS... BUT NONE OF THE APPLICANTS SEEMED QUITE RIGHT...
...

THEN I  FIGURED MARY NEEDED TRANSPORT TO GET TO BETHLEHEM, IT IS A DEVIL OF A LONG WAY FROM ECUADOR, SO WE HUNTED ROUND FOR THE ODD HORSE... MOTOR BIKE EVEN...WE WEREN’T FUSSY

BUT I WASN’T 100% SURE THE LORD ABOVE NOR HIS HOLINESS  BELOW WOULD APPROVE OUR SHORT LIST.
...

GOSH, DIDN’T JESUS TURN WATER INTO WINE AND SOMETHING ELSE INTO NIBBLIES?  WITH TIME RUNNING OUT I RELUCTANTLY DECIDED TO TURN THE XMAS CATERING OVER TO THE RELUCTANT ONE.

AND THE END RESULT - I ASK YOU EGGS AND BEER?
...

STILL WORKING ON THE CARD I KEPT THINKING THERE SHOULD AT LEAST BE LIVESTOCK – AFTER ALL THE HOLY FAMILY DID BOOK IN TO A STABLE...

BUT THE BEST I COULD MANAGE WERE A COUPLE OF LLAMAS, A MILK BAR OF GOATS, FEASTING IGUANAS AND A STREET WISE COW.
...

BUT NOTHING SO FAR REALLY PRESENTED THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS...UNTIL FINALLY ON OUR VERY LAST DAY IN ECUADOR...

WE FOUND RELIGION WHERE YOU WOULD LEAST EXPECT IT,  ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHRISE BUILDING IN BUSY DOWNTOWN GUAYAQUIL ...

SUCCESS AT LAST -
AND WITH THESE FOND IMAGES OF ECUADOR
I WISH ALL MY READERS  A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS WITH LOTS OF CHEER, LESS RAIN AND SNOW (FOR THOSE IN FLOOD AND SLEET),  PLENTY OF PRECIPITATION IF THERE’S ANYONE AROUND STILL IN DROUGHT, AND LOTS OF GOOD TUCKER....

THE RELUCTANT TRAVELLER AND ME
